A life-long horsewoman, began riding at age 6 in her native home of Long Island, New York. She readily moved up through the pony ranks to the juniors, and right into professional status. In her early professional years, she worked for George Morris, world renowned horseman and current Chef d’Equipe of the U.S. Olympic Team. During this time she acquired the skills and knowledge to care for, manage, and train show horses in all disciplines, and well as developing young horses for winning careers.

Ginny also spent time in Europe with George Lindemann at his European operation and at many of the major European shows. This experience gave her the skills to combine the European warmbloods with the American system of riding and showing.

Using this system of riding and training, Ginny mastered teaching and coaching skills that allowed her to bring riders from lead line to the major East Coast medal finals.

Ginny continued also worked for Bill Cooney and Frank Madden, and helped coach some of the top equitation riders in the country. During her time there, Beacon Hill riders won 25 major equitation titles.

Beginning her riding career at an eventing barn in Maryland at the age of eleven, by thirteen she was working there seven days a week, and by fourteen she was managing the barn of sixty to seventy five horses. Showing in the local eventing and hunter/jumper circuits as well as attending the occasional big “A” shows such as Upperville, Capitol Challenge, and Harrisburg to work and school the horses. Kelly raised and help break and train the foals delivered there once they became old enough, and took many young horses to their first few shows. She began to teach lessons there, and was put in charge of organizing and running the summer camp.

At seventeen Kelly decided to turn her passion into a career and attended Centenary College (http://www.centenarycollege.edu) in Hackettstown, New Jersey. There she rode with multiple trainers of excellent quality such as Andrea Wells, Michael Dowling, and Tara Clausen, as well as lessoning and clinicing with George Morris, Michael Page, Anne Kursinski, and Rita Timpanaro. Moving quickly through the levels in IHSA (http://www.ihsainc.com), she qualified for Nationals each year, placing consistently in the top 6. In her final year at school she interned with a veterinary surgeon and graduated a semester early with a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies with concentrations in Riding Instruction and Horse Training as well as Equine Business Management.

At Ever Wood Stables for over three years now, Kelly has had the opportunity to ride with such professionals as Joe Fargis and Bill Cooney, as well as showing some of the client’s horses to great success.

“Ginny is an outstanding trainer and professional whom I greatly admire and respect. I’ve gained a great deal of knowledge in working here and have had some great opportunities. We have an amazing, fun client base with really lovely horses. I honestly believe in what I do here and just…love my job.”

Ginny’s husband Stephan not only handles many of the business agreements and heavy paperwork, but also shows great contribution to the barn despite his not being a typical “horse person.” He has hand built us beautiful new jumps, organized the Kooza trip, built our lovely viewing patio, and keeps the barn decorated with current ribbons and holiday festivities. All of our landscaping is also done by Stephan, making the desert of Los Angeles a little bit greener.
